Little Stinker

May 23rd we had out 20 week ultrasound.
Is it a boy??? Is it a girl??? We don't know!
We were hoping to see what the little baby was going to be but of course it's me and R's child so it was being a little stinker and decided to be laying breach with the placenta over itself and had it's little legs crossed. All the wrong thing to find out what he or she was.
One good thing is that they didn't get all the measurements that were needed, so they ordered another ultrasound in a week to two weeks.
The apt was set for June 12th (3 weeks out) but we just couldn't wait that long so we rescheduled it for June 30th! We will have to go to another place and then have the follow up apt the following Monday.
Let's hope the little stinker will cooperate this time!
Tim had Bart and everyone going that we really knew we just were not telling everyone until we could tell everyone together. So Bart the next day when everyone was over to lower the deck keep saying, "k everyone is here what is it?" or "I'll do this or that if you tell me what it is!"
The trouble Uncle Tim started!

Here are the photo they gave us from the ultrasound

Baby's Feet

Baby' head and spine

That's what we get for wanting to know if it's a he or a she so badly!
I joked that we wouldn't be able to find out but I didn't think that would actually be the case!

Baby's First Movements!

So I think I felt the baby move today!!!
It could be my wishful thinking and with them telling me that I should start to feel something between weeks 18-20 and since we are on week 18 I have been extra sensitive to make sure I feel it!
I thought I felt something last night but I wasn't sure. I thought it felt high and then I thought nah I must be wishing. But today I'm 90% sure I felt something! Happy dance time!

The frist pregnancy - so far...

So far I don't have much to complain about, my pregnancy has been good so far! (Cross my fingers that it stays this way!)

For my first trimester I didn't have to deal with the "morning sickness" too much, only actually got sick once on a Famous Dave's BBQ Chicken Salad- keep me from eating lettuce for a little while. I would get the nausea, but all I would need to do is have a little something to eat and it would go away, but nothing that would keep me in bed or rushing to the bathroom so I was really excited about that.

For me the worse thing about my pregnancy so far is my acid reflex. Now it's gotten better so far during this second trimester, maybe cause I've been taking notes of what foods cause it more since I'm only allowed to take some over the counter meds that haven't ever worked for me. But at first it was really hard to handle. I'm sure it will be back once the little ones hair starts to grow :) but I'll take what I can and learn to eat things that help it and not make it worse.

R will say the worse thing about my first trimester was having to watch TV by himself every night cause I couldn't stay awake past 9pm! He's made a couple comments to me recently about how he can't believe I'm still awake now that I'm in the second trimester and stay up again till it's really bed time.

As far as cravings, I have had a few...
  • BBQ was one that I had right away- not sure if it was cause I just like it or if it's cause I was craving it, but I've been trying to stay away from it as it causes my acid reflex to act up.
  • Pickles- this started at Addison's Birthday when Sandy and Chrissy had them out and me and Nancy polished off some of the jar. Now this is just bread and butter pickles and just them alone, NO pickles in my Ice Cream!
  • Melted Kraft Cheese- Mac and Cheese and Grilled Cheese Sandwiches with Tomato soup (just enough to dip it in cause tomato sause causes the acid reflex!) But I could have these two things all day every day resently!
  • WATER- has got to be my biggest craving though. Not that I didn't drink water before I was pregnant but it's just about the only thing I want to drink. I always have a bottle of water in my purse or in my hand or on my desk at work, but really I can not complain cause it's not adding pounds the only complaint is that I'm pregnant and I'm already going to the bathroom ALL THE TIME, I'm sure drinking tons of water is not helping the cause!
  • And then there is Ice Cream- I have to teach the kid right from the start don't I? Even if it's not a craving from pregnancy but just cause I love Ice Cream!
I'm definely starting to show too. My shirts are getting shorter and to the point were to wear the maternity pants that I need to wear to fit the belly, the materniy band will show if I only wear my old shirts. So I've slowly been picking up some new clothes here and there, mainly tee shirt cause they are comfy. And everyone is starting to look down and noticing that there's a little baby bump growing. I'm going to have to start taking pictures soon to keep track of how much I grow from here now that you can see the little bump!

But I really hope that everything keeps going as good as it has been so far. I can always hope right! :)
But for now, Mama, Daddy and baby are doing good!

Grandpa's Snoopy Stuff

Saturday, we went to Great Grandma Mary's house and went threw 5 boxes of Great Grandpa Art's Snoopy stuff. I could not believe that R's Grandpa had so much snoopy stuff.
We found, book ends, stuff animals, lots of different figures, a pillow, toys, dishes, etc. I don't think anything had a date from after 1975... we talking vintage Snoopy.
We took a box full of things home and we are going to go threw them as we decorate the baby's room.

So far, if you can imagine it, the plan for the baby's room is... Grandpa Ives is going to turn the closet into a dog house door (by rounding he corners) and then we are going to paint the rest of the dog house on the wall with the sky and the grass. The remaining 3 walls are in plan to be yellow, with Charlie Brown's zigzag strip running threw the middle of the wall. We have also found these really cute Snoopy and the gang wall decals that we are going to add as well.
We will then put some shelves up with Great Grandpa's Snoopy stuff.

Also Grandpa Van, dug out his Peanut comic books, that he got at Dayton's downtown about 30 some years ago, for the baby's room. Works great with the Snoopy bookends, they have all already made their way to the dresser top.

R and I are really happy that we changed our minds on the baby room cause this room is a little special to everyone!

We got to hear the heartbeat!

Monday was our 16 week apt.
They tried to catch the heartbeat again, it took him some time but once they did, it was SO neat to listen to. It wasn't as fast as I thought it was going to be but it was a huge relieve getting to hear it- also the first time we've heard it. The first ultrasound we had at 6 weeks when we found out, we could "see" it beat but this time we got to hear it. They said within the next couple of weeks I should be able to start feeling the baby move a little too! I can't wait for that!
And again, they bounced around our due date, mainly cause they are not sure when I ovulated, so right now it's Oct 3rd. Also I'm staying a head of the game and losing weight- not gaining it! I won't complain, but the Dr. said it was alright and wasn't too concerned about it, now it was only 1lb but I should gain around 10 by the end of the trimester.

But mark it on your calendars, May 22nd @ 2:30 we go in to find out what we are having!
The ultrasound is 70 mins long and then we have an apt after to go over all the pictures and everything with the Dr. So don't expect phone calls at 3:00- it won't be till after 5:00 or so.

You just know though, our kid is going to cover it up just cause everyone wants to know SO BAD!

Snoopy!

So change of mind on the baby's room decor- we are going to do Snoopy!
R mentioned that he wanted to put his snoopy statue in the baby room and after thinking about it we thought how cool would it be to do the whole room in Snoopy.
R's Grandpa Ives loved Snoopy, so Great Grandpa would approve!
It might be a little more work on my end, having to make some of the things instead of just being able to buy them, but then I did go to school for this kind of thing so I will be able to handle it!
But just so everyone knows, it's all about Snoopy and the gang!

12 Weeks and counting

We had our 1st appointment on Monday 3/23, nothing too exciting. I had to do the glucose test already, and everything came back fine. R and I were disappointed that we were not going to have an ultrasound and our little one must be a stubborn as we are because it didn't let the Dr. find it's heartbeat so we had to have a ultrasound today 3/25 (What a way to spend our 1 year anniversary, getting to see our baby for the first time!) . This is baby Ives at 12 weeks and measuring about 5cm. It was amazing getting to see the little one move around, you could see it's little arms and legs moving. Above you can see it's little head the leg curled up and the arm in front of it's face. You can also see it's spine and it looks just like a little person with it's little face :) It was so weird knowing that the baby is just moving around like a little maniac but knowing that I still can't feel it move yet. Our next appt. is April 20th but our next ultrasound will be at 20 weeks. That's when we will get to know what the sex is, and we can't wait, 8 weeks and counting!
