Child Birth Class

Sarturday Sept 12th was when we scheduled our child birthing class. It was suppose to be planned sooner but we wanted to made it all in one day- one long day 9-5 but we thought that would be better then doing it weekly.

Who would have thought we would have had that scare the day before, that it might be Monday we could be doing everything. With the okay from the Dr for me to go since he wanted me sitting with my feet up all weekend we went. While we both really didn't want to go after everything on Friday, we felt maybe we better just in case something happens. This way we know where to go and what's going to go on- just to know some things might be a good idea.

While the class wasn't that informational, it was good to go. It was a lot of things we had heard or read about - the videos were to a minimum, which I loved because I don't do good with that kind of thing in the first place. But over all it was a long day. We both made it through it, neither of us fell asleep. R has decided that our breathing techniquine will be him laughing at me--- but that is expected! :)

36 Week Apt

So Friday Aug 11th we went in for our 36 week apt (at 36 weeks and 6 days)
What should have been a normal apt, turned a little scary.

My blood pressure was a little high, a 5 lb weight gain and they were concerned with the swelling in my feet, legs and fingers. My middle 2 fingers and my right thumb have been getting "stuck" when I bend them, almost as though I have a pinched nerve somewhere. They had me do a urine test that came back with a little protein in it and they tried to take blood 3 different times but couldn't get any. And that's where the worry started, Dr. Hamel said I could have something called Preeclampsia, which has to do with my swelling, blood pressure and protein showing up in my urine. With this, they are concerned so they are having me do a 24 hour urine test (which I'm in the middle of right now- what fun it is collecting my pee every time I have to go to the bathroom- do they realize how many times I go to the bathroom everyday!) I also have to go to Unity's Lab on Monday morning and have them try to draw some blood. We have another apt Monday afternoon at 4:20 to go over the results. They said that if there is a rise in any of these that they might have to take Peyton early for my safety. They did a non-stress test on Peyton on Friday as well. They hooked a machine up to my stomach that had 2 trackers, one that looked at her movements and contractions to my stomach and one that checked her heart rate. After a couple really gross juices that they gave me to make her move- Dr. Hamel looked at the results and said everything with Peyton is fine, he saw what he wanted to see in the test. They want to make sure that she is sill moving around as she should to make sure my swelling is not restricting the blood flow to her. He wants me to stay off my feet, just taking it easy until they know for sure what is going on.

R and I were not ready to hear that we could be parents as soon as Monday- just getting use to the thought of it closing in on the last month, but we weren't ready to think about Monday as being the day. And it's a little scary just because besides her slowing down on movements or something - which she hasn't at all this whole weekend- the other symptoms are things that I really don't feel the difference to know if something isn't right.

We both took the day off Monday so that we can get some things ready just in case- you know like a labor bag- we haven't packed that yet! We will keep everyone up to date as much as possible to what happens on Monday- but all we can do is hope for the best for her and hold on, if it is time, then it's time!

34 Week appointment

Aug 25th we went for our 34 week apt.
Everything went great again. Blood pleasure, measurement was good. Gained 2 lbs and her heartbeat was at 150. Dr. Hamel got called to the hospital so we had the nurse practitioner, she kind of laughed at us when she asked about the baby class and if we have taken it yet. I told her we have it scheduled for the 12th of September and she said maybe we should make sure to read out book that was given to us at our first apt, just in case!
Our next apt is set for Sept. 11th - this apt starts our apts every week. They will check all the normals as well as if I have started to dialate. The Nurse said she couldn't tell for sure if her face or butt was up, she thought that Petyon might be breach but that is something they will look at more closely at our next apt. If she is breach, they might do an ultrasound to find out for sure and if so work on ways to turn her around. So our next apt should be an interesting one with a few more details and then the day after we have our child birth class from 9-5. Both R and I can not believe how close it's getting :)

Family Babyshower Aug 23,2009

Great Aunt Nancy, Great Aunt Bummer, Great Aunt Sandy and Great Aunt Bonnie (along with help from many more of the Ives, Troupe, Evenson clan) threw us a family shower!
Everything was just perfect! Thank you everything for such a great shower! All 3 of us are lucky to have such a great family!

Grandma Gail and Grandpa Bart made this adorable fruit buggie.

The shower was so much fun- living up to all the greatness of all other amazing parties these guys throw!
It was a hot Aug day, but it turned out so nice on the back deck. Nancy and Bummer had been planning on throwing it on the deck since R started talking about lowering it early this year! It turned out to be a great place for a party!

And can we say that someone is a little SPOILED already! Look at all those gifts everyone brought Peyton- you guys are amazing! We go some many things that we needed, it was such a help- Thank you so much!
"C" is for cookie!
Ollie Brecht got Peyton this adorable Cookie Monster bath towel!
Ollie is my co-workers Emily's 1 year old son, and on her Ipod she has a couple songs for Ollie. Everyday we hear his "C" is for Cookie, Cookie Monster song- so it's kind of a running joke with the kids getting Cookie Monster things! Thanks Em, now we can sing the song while Peyton's in the bath!

Mom and Girls Babyshower Aug. 16, 2009

Grandma JoAnne, Auntie Haley and Auntie Angie threw me and Peyton a Peanuts themed baby shower!

Everything turned out so cute- They played peanuts bingo, a nursery rhyme game (which I found out I need to do some studying up on to make sure Peyton learns hers correctly!), and what's in the diaper. Grandpa Steve and Uncle Gerrit helped out with the supply of items to put in the diapers, adding apple sauce and baby food peas and baby food carrots, along with the candy bars, making for some pretty nasty looking diapers.

Look at the cute cake that we got from JKB Cakes!

We were in full supply of cakes with Angie's super cute diaper cake!
Grandma Gail and Great Aunt Nancy playing the diaper game.

Haley showing Nikki what's inside the diaper
Doesn't that look yummy- at least they didn't smell bad!

Me and my girls hanging out after the shower!

What- haven't you guys seen knocked up chick before?
Angie, this really shouldn't be surprise to you!

Thanks so much mom and girls- the shower was so much fun!
(and thanks again for moving it up from 2 weeks before my due date)

Work Baby Shower Aug. 14, 2009

Friday after work I had my work baby shower at Emily Brecht house!
There was so much amazing food and it was great to get everyone out of the office! The kids all came and had a blast playing together and Emily even guilted R into coming. He was hoping to get there after everyone left but he came after he got off of work and we were just opening gifts. He wasn't the happiest, as we all know how much he loves to be center of attention, but he was a really good sport! We were so surprised but what we got and so grateful for everyone's love and support! Peyton got her pack n play, floor playset, clothes, a diaper cake, some onesies, a really neat plate that doesn't slip and so much more! Thanks so much girls for such a wonderful shower!

32 Week Apt.

Again another 2 weeks have past!
This apt was really long- not because we were in with the Dr. for a long time but because he was running 40 mins behind! No one else was available so it was a good thing that R went along so I had someone to talk to! Once we did see Dr. Hamel, he checked heartbeat and measurement and everything looks good. I'm still excited because I didn't gain any weight again this 2 weeks. I thought with the amount of junk I have been eating lately, I would have for sure gained at least 5 lbs. But instead I came up the same as my last apt.

This weekend I threw my back out- not sure how but I have been very slow moving when it comes to getting up and sitting down. It's slowly getting better and the Dr. wasn't concerned about it affecting anything since she's moving around just as much or if not twice as much since it happened.

My back being out made for an interesting weekend though. Saturday we went to a wedding for Rich, a truck driver at R's work. We didn't really know anyone but the few people that were there that work with R but I was totally that pregnant lady that looks like she's having the hardest time moving around. Hand on her back, big belly, swollen feet and taking her time to waddle along. As I walked around and saw people looking at me, I just laughed to myself and was thinking thank God I don't know any of these people! :)

This weekend is my work shower on Friday and my Mom's and the girls shower on Sunday! So lots to look forward to, I'm so excited to start getting everything ready for Peyton- I just hope my back is better by then!
