Dr. Apt Check Up after finding out I might have preeclampsia

After our long wait on from the news that I could have preeclampsia on Friday, we made an apt to see Dr. Hamel on Monday. They wanted me to do a 24 hour urine test, so during opening weekend of Football, there I was going to the bathroom in a little tray and keeping it in a jug all day. Do they realize how many times pregnant people go to the bathroom in a day. I thought for sure I was going to have to go to the hospital and pick up another jug before the 24 hours was up, but I didn't have to.

So with the anticipation of... could today be it... R and I both took the day off or work to get things together. We ran my jug-o-urine to the Unity lab and they successfully were able to draw blood- thank goodness! Then we went out to breakfast at Ihop and then went to get the paint for the basement. When we got home we decided it might be a good idea to pack up a labor bag and a list for the fridge for whoever has to run to our house of what things they need to grab and we put together her diaper bag, with some clothes that we have that if need she can wear in the hospital and some options of things she could wear home from the hospital. We also spent some time decorating her room, we got all the peanut stickers up on the walls, R got the grass painted and we taped off the dog house and got the first couple coats of read painted. Her room decor was starting to get somewhere! After sitting around and making sure the few things we wanted to get done were done it was time to go to our apt.

On our way there I was at 50/50 that she was coming today but R had it in his mind that it was 80/20 that she was coming. Sitting in the Dr office this time was hard- not knowing that the test results were, not knowing if we were leaving the clinic to go to the hospital and have ourselves a baby- it was nerve wrecking.

When we finally got in to see the Dr, my weight was down 2 lbs from Friday and my blood pressure was up a little bit more then it was on Friday - so then we sat and waited some more.
When Dr. Hamel come in, he said that my urine test came back about what the one on Friday did and my blood tests came back okay- so the waiting and thinking it was today, turned into, well lets see if we can wait it out a week or so. He still was not worried about her.

So we figured out when we would see him next, as our actual 37 week apt was not scheduled until Friday, but Hamel didn't want to wait that long, so we decided that we would do the NST (non-stress test) before we left and then go see Hamel at the Blaine clinic on Wednesday for another check up.

In the mean time, he did like that my feet were not as swollen as they were, and wants to put me on moderate bed rest. Meaning going to work all day, was not an option. So I got permission to do work from home with limited trips and time at the office.

The NST test that we did turned out fine- everything with her looked good, and he was happy with what he saw on the test. The amazing thing about the test is getting to sit there for 15 mins or so and listen to her little heart beat, it's very hypnotizing and makes everything so real.

And off to home we went- Neither R or myself thought that we would be leaving the office that day. But now it's a waiting game, Dr apts every other day and every other day not knowing is today the day or do we hold on and wait it out a couple more days. Either way, after Monday and taking the time to get things together, we are ready, or as ready as we can be for our little girl to make her grand entrance into this world.
